From 12 to 14 June 2022, ISPO’s OutDoor took place for the first time as a live event at the Munich Order Center (MOC) after a forced hiatus of two years.
This year at Outdoor by ISPO many brands presented the novelties of the 2023 products, emphasizing their sustainability and respect for the environment in the choice of materials and in the production process.
Products from over 300 brands from the segments of Sportswear, Hiking, Camping Outdoor products, Travel equipment, Trekking and Climbing were shown.
After the stoppage due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the cancellation of many sector trade shows in 2020 and the unknown factor of travel between states, OutDoor by ISPO, one of the most important trade show in the Outdoor and mountaineering equipment in the World, took place in Munich.
After 2long years of hiatus, the OutDoor by Ispo 2022 exhibition event, sponsored solely by the European Outdoor Group, saw 8,000 attendees, of which two thirds of the visitors and 70% of the exhibitors were of international origin.
There were 70 different countries among the distributors.
In the meantime, we are waiting for ISPO Munich, the winter version to be held from 28 to 30 November 2022 in the historic location of the Messe Munich Trade Fair Center.

OUTDOOR 2022, the main topics that were mainly discussed
The topics that have been discussed within the industry were:
- new approaches to sustainability
- the current delivery problems
- rising prices
- material shortages and staff shortages in specialty stores
- regenerative business practices
- innovative materials.
But now we come to us .. why we visited Outdoor?
Many of our customers come from the the outdoor world with products like: Sportswear, Mountaineering/Climbing equipment, Surfing and paddeling equipment and Camping & Outdoor equipment.
THE RETAIL WORLD OF OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT.
Although the trend of the last two years has been the online purchase for almost all the products on the market and the buyers interact virtually with the products (for example using the apps provided by the reference brand to try on sportswear and protections virtually), fortunately the outdoor equipment sector has not completely bowed to this new digital market; the in-store experience will probably not end because being able to try climbing equipment like shoes, helmets, protections, interacting with a salesman who will recommend the best helmet or jacket will always have a fundamental value for the end user.
